Workshops
Workshops at Anime North give participants a chance to learn something new. Sometimes you will be making something to take home, other times you will learn a dance, or watch a demonstration. Workshops have limited capacity, and may have an associated cost to cover materials. Sign for our paid workshops is handled through registration. There is no advance sign up for our free workshops, but be early since space is still limited.

Description: Andrew Loomis was an American illustrator best know for his series of instructional books. Learn the famous "Loomis method" of drawing heads from Kent Burles, Illustrator and Comic Artist!

Comic Book Basic Training with Kent Burles
Description: Have you ever wanted to make your own comic? Kent Burles will walk you through the process in this intensive workshop. Students will work with concepts of layout, design, perspective, inking, cover design, etc.

Plushie Workshop - Kawaii Toast
Description: Learn how to make your own stuffed toy. It's fun, and with a step-by-step guide, it is also easy — even if you have never sewn before! Please note spots are limited and will be given on a first-come first-served basis.

Silicone Shurikens – A Piece Of Cake!
Description: Have you ever iced a cake before? If so, then you have just about all the skills necessary to learn a great new cosplay technique! Silicone and regular old mattress foam can be used to create props, costume pieces, even armour and weapons that look like real metal! No mold-making necessary! Learn all the basics in this 3 hour workshop while you construct your own "Nerf"-style shuriken, then go home and let your imagination run wild! Scared of silicone? Don’t be. By the time you’re done, you’ll see it’s a piece of cake!

Silicone Mold Making Part 1: One-Part Molds
Description: Come learn how the professionals make molds for resin casting with the help of the props-master from Fantastic Creations. Learn how to make a mold, step by step, in this 3 hour hands-on workshop on Friday night. Come back Saturday morning to pick up your mold. You can keep going with part 2 of the mold making process, or just come back on Sunday morning to cast your piece in Resin Casting Workshop.

Silicone Mold Making Part 2: Two-Part Molds
Description: YOU MUST TAKE SILICON MOLD MAKING PART ONE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS WORKSHOP. Continue your mold making experience with part 2 of this workshop. Learn how the professionals make molds for resin casting with the help of the props-master from Fantastic Creations. Learn how to make a two-part mold, step by step, in this 3 hour hands-on workshop on Saturday morning. Come back Sunday morning to pick up your mold, or to cast it in the Resin Casting Workshop.

Resin Casting for Props and Costumes
Description: Have you always wanted to know how to make fake jewels for costumes, or do you want an alternative for fashioning weapons and props? If so, this is your chance! Learn how to work with and cast resin with the help of the props-master from Fantastic Creations in this 3 hour workshop on Sunday morning. You will get a chance to actually cast a piece and take it home with you. If you made a mold in one of the mold-making workshops, this is your chance to cast it.
