The Anime North Fashion Swap is an event that gives attendees who are interested in Japanese street fashion an opportunity to buy and sell their clothing. It's also a great opportunity to learn all about, and have access to, the interesting Harajuku street styles you've seen on the web!
The Fashion Swap happens at the same time, and in the same place, as the Nominoichi. They are practically the same event, except instead of anime related merchandise, our participants sell J-fashion!
Starting as the Lolita Fashion Swap Meet in 2011, the Anime North Fashion Swap is the event to give attendees who are interested in Japanese street fashion an opportunity to buy and sell their clothing. It's also a great opportunity to learn all about, and have access to, the interesting Harajuku street styles that you've seen on the web!
The Fashion Swap will be on Friday, May 22nd, from 7:00pm to 10:30pm in Hall A at the Toronto Congress Center (TCC)
The Fashion Swap is a marketplace primarily for used Japanese fashion items. We are never sure what people are going to see, but there is always a fantastic variety of items, from expensive, authentic brands from Japan to some great, affordable finds! We also encourage seller to post there items on the Anime North Forum and respected fashion communities. That's also the best place to find more information about the Fashion Swap, and if you have any questions or concerns about the Fashion Swap that is the best place to get answers.
The Anime North Fashion Swap will take place on Friday, May 22 from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM, in Hall A at the Toronto Congress Centre (TCC). This event takes place alongside the Nominoichi. They will be in the same area for attendees to take advantage of both at the same time!
If you plan to attend this event, please remember:
- The temperature inside the Fashion Swap can become uncomfortably high. We'll do our best with the AC, but it's often not enough. You should dress light, drink water, and be ready to sweat a bit.
- The Hall is also very crowded early in the night. We prefer that you are shopping inside, not waiting in a line. This means we allow a lot of people in at once. If you are not comfortable with tight crowds then we recommend that you start shopping later in the night. The later you arrive, the fewer people there will be.
- Everything sold at the Fashion Swap is considered to be "used" and "as-is". Please be aware and shop smart. Look carefully before you buy. Always talk to the sellers and ask questions first. Only buy something if you are sure it is what you think it is. However, you must never touch, unwrap, or open merchandise without first asking the sellers permission. It's not your property until you pay for it!
- If you have any problems or issues with an item, seller, or anyone during the Fashion Swap, please come see us at the staff tables right away. The only opportunity to correct a problem is during the time of the event.
- This event is for Japanese street fashion styles (and steampunk). You'll find clothing items like dresses, skirts, tops, bottoms, accessories, and headwear. You'll find a mix of brand name items from Japan and off-brand items as well.
- Japanese brand name can be very expensive and often retain their value. Smaller off-brand item can be less expensive. We've seen small items go for as little as $1 while some brand name items can go past $300. It's a good idea to bring what you can, as you never know when your dream item might be up for sale!
