This FAQ is for the General Industry Area in the Dealer’s Room Toronto Congress Centre Site.

Please note that in 2018 there will be a price increase for the fees for the Industry Area booths, in conjunction with the layout changes and price increase for the Dealers' Room booths.

What is the General Industry Area? Who can apply? How can I apply?

These are booth spaces allocated for: Anime North Guests of Honour/Industry Guests; Corporations and For-Profit Organizations; Government Affiliations; Clubs and Non-Profit Organizations/Associations; and Conventions. The booths are provided solely for the exhibition of these groups' own products and services during Anime North 2018.

Anime North Guests of Honour are individuals or Industry Guests invited and featured by Anime North. Guests of Honour and Industry Guests are designated by Anime North invitation only.

Corporations and For Profit Organizations are defined as businesses that sell goods and/or services for profit. Note that they cannot sell merchandise at an Industry Table, only promote themselves. (For example, a manga publishing company promoting upcoming titles.)

Government Affiliations are defined as groups or organizations that are part of, affiliated with, or otherwise have official ties with the Government of Canada or the Government of Ontario.

Clubs and Non-Profit Organizations/Associations are defined as groups that provide a service to their respective communities and are non-profit. (For example, university anime associations and similar culture groups.)

Conventions are defined as groups that organize events similar to that of Anime North.

You may purchase more than one booth space if you wish to have a bigger display booth. Multiple booth spaces are subject to availability.

If you wish to arrange sponsorship with Anime North or as an Industry Guest, please contact Regina Beecham at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

I would like internet access or electricity drops. What do I do?

Anime North only provides the space, table, and chairs. We do not provide electricity or internet access. You will need to make your own arrangements and pay the additional costs directly to ShowTech in order to have electricity and/or with Freeman to have internet access. Let us know and we will send you the direct link for you to arrange it online. If you encounter any issues during the convention regarding your electricity or internet, you must resolve them directly with ShowTech or Freeman.

How much do the Industry Booths cost?

As of 2018, a 10x10 foot booth space costs $400 CDN. Payment is by cheque or bank money order. Online payments may be allowed on a case-by-case basis (please indicate in your e-mail request if you wish to pay online).

Additional Industry passes are $60 CDN each.

I am a Convention/Event and I am interested in the Direct Booth/Table Exchange Program. What is it about and how do I apply?

Please indicate in your application to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it that you are a Convention and would like to apply for the Booth/Table Exchange program. Anime North also has a direct pass/badge exchange if you don’t wish to have a booth at the convention.

Anime North reserves the right to refuse or limit table exchanges and pass/badge exchanges with other Conventions at its sole discretion.

Anime North will prioritize direct booth/table exchanges with Conventions specializing in genres similar to what Anime North focuses upon and that are stationed no more than one hour of travel beyond the boundaries of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The GTHA consists of the City of Hamilton, Halton region, Peel region, the City of Toronto, York region, and Durham region.

Direct table exchanges with Anime Conventions outside the GTHA boundaries will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on whether Anime North will be able to send a representative to your convention. Please contact the Industry Tables coordinator to ask about negotiating direct trades if your anime convention is outside of the GTHA.

Conventions dedicated to subjects outside the scope of Anime North's focus (e.g. electronics shows, wedding shows, toy shows, medieval/renaissance fairs, etc.) and conventions located outside of the GTHA parameters (including Anime Conventions for which Anime North is unable to do a direct trade) need to purchase a booth space or provide passes in equivalent value.

For Conventions qualified for direct trades, we require that you provide to Anime North the same booth/table and the same amount and/or value of passes to your convention. (e.g. Anime North Industry Passes are valued at $60 each. If your pass equivalent at your convention costs only $20 each, we would require that you provide us three passes to your convention in exchange for one for ours, since that is equivalent in value).

Anime North also welcomes passes to your convention/event as donations for the Anime North Toronto Sick Kids Hospital Charity Auction.

What can I sell in the General Industry Area?

Only Guests of Honour may be allowed to sell merchandise in the General Industry Area as negotiated in their contract.

Any form of retail sales is not permitted at the General Industry Area. If you are actually looking for tables to sell merchandise, please contact the Dealers' Room at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

You may give away promotional items from your table (e.g. flyers, brochures, product samples with the exception of food samples). Please notify Anime North of any planned give-aways in your application, in order to clarify if the product samples you are planning on giving away will be permitted by the venue.

Clubs and conventions will be allowed to sell club and convention memberships to their events, as well as promotional merchandise promoting the club and convention. You must notify Anime North in your application if you intend to do so.

Anime North retains the right to decide if any additional sales are to be allowed.

I'm a Corporation and I would like to donate some of my promotional merchandise and/or services. What do I do?

Anime North welcomes donations for our Toronto Sick Kids Hospital Charity Auction, but we will no longer be accepting donations in lieu of fees payment. While Anime North can offer some recognition for donors' generosity, Canadian tax laws do not permit the convention to issue charitable donation receipts for tax purposes.

We will send you the address where you can ship your merchandise donations if you wish to send them ahead of time; that will enable us to have ample time to advertise your donations to the Charity Auction on our website and social media networks prior to the convention. Please attach your business card to your donations if possible.

If physically sending your donation in advance is not possible, please send an itemized list of your donation by April 30th, 2018 if possible, so that it can be advertised on our website and social media ahead of time for the auction.

Last minute donations may be accepted as well, but will not be advertised.

In order to increase the chance that items will be attractive to bidders at the Charity Auction, we ask that merchandise donations be:

  • Brand new, that is not used and in original packaging
  • Relevant to Anime North (i.e. art supplies for artists, cosplay supplies, anime DVDs, anime/manga figurines, etc.)
  • Not outdated (e.g. video games released in the last year, recently released CCG decks, etc.)

If you wish to make a donation that does not follow the above guidelines (for example, a rare "collector's item"), please contact us and it will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The same guidelines apply for service donations (e.g. a gift certificate for a drawing class session, voice acting coaching, Martial Arts class session, film screening tickets etc.). If you cannot send a certificate/voucher/ticket/etc. ahead of time, please send us all the details of your service prior to April 30th, 2018, including a description and if relevant, how many sessions the donation consists of and how long they are.

I'm a non-profit organization and would like to use AN as an event for our fundraising drive. Can I ask for a table?

Anime North already supports Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children's Foundation as our charity and we prefer not to dilute our own fundraising efforts.

However, non-profit organizations who would like to use the event as part of a fundraising drive are still free to submit a proposal for their fundraiser and we will decide on a case-by-case basis.

Anime North retains all rights to decide whether your fundraising event will receive a table. Please send your proposal at least 2 months prior to the convention.

My Corporation/Club/Convention was approved for a Table but due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not able to attend. What do we do?

The Industry Booths are given on a first come-first paid basis and often times will have a waiting list after all the tables have been approved. Thus, due to the high demand for the Industry Booths, we request that you inform Anime North ASAP if you will not be able to send a representative to physically use your table. If we are given adequate notice prior to the convention that you will not need to use your table, we may issue a refund of your fees. Failure to inform us will result in a delay or denial of your fees refund and automatic denial of future applications for your Corporation, Club or Convention.

I don’t need a table for my event/convention, but can I send pamphlets or flyers for display in your convention? How can I do that?

Yes. Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to make arrangements.
