The Moonlight Ball presents The Comic! A Hero and Villain themed event which will be held Friday evening, the 23rd of May, at the Airport Marriott Hotel, starting at 8:00 PM.
Attention: As of April 7, 2014, ticket sales have reached 255, leaving only 195 tickets available!
This year we are calling all Heroes and Villains to bear witness to the final showdown between Moonlight-man and the UnNameable. Come in your costumes (or semi-formal attire) and fight though interactive games, dance and contests to help try to save the city or dominate it.
This year we are happy to announce that we will be adding some hot foods to our light-buffet (which shall forever remain as nut-free as possible). The light buffet also consist of desserts, candy, and finger foods.
Moonlight Ball tickets are $40 each and are now available through online Pre-registration. Only 450 Ball tickets in total are available. If any tickets are left over, they will be sold at the convention prior to the ball and at the door (at con ticket sales are not a guarantee).
Special Events and Requests
A shuttle bus will be running between the International Plaza (formerly the Doubletree), Sheraton, and Marriott hotels from 7:30 PM to 1:00 AM on Friday, the night of the Ball.
Bring your ticket or purchase confirmation and your Anime North membership badge with you on the shuttle. Your Anime North membership badge must be worn during the event. We will take ticket stubs and stamp hands for re-entry to allow guests to use the washrooms located outside the Plaza Ballroom.
Note: It is your responsibility to read the following dress code description. This is to make sure that your clothing complies. Don't be one of the people we have to turn away because of improper wardrobe!
The Moonlight Ball is primarily a costume ball, so we encourage attendees to come in costume, whatever that may be! Besides, you won't be eligible for costume prizes if you're not in costume will you now? Last year we were amazed by the calibre of dress and beautiful costumes that guests wore to the Ball.
We offer attendees two choices in what to wear:
- Formal/semi-formal attire
Some examples of attire which attendees should not wear:
- Sneakers, running shoes, sports sandals, dirty or poor condition footwear.
- Street-wear such as blue jeans, cut-offs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, khakis, or sport shorts.
- Streetwear costumes, such as L from Deathnote or Winry from FMA, Left 4 Dead zombies, etc.
- Swimwear, bikinis, or "strategically placed fur" costumes such as Lum from Urusei Yatsura, Felicia from Darkstalkers, etc.
However, all of these cases can be turned into a ballroom-style costume! Think of what the character would wear to a ball, or what you imagine that character to wear, or transform the outfit into a formal one -- seeing a zombie in a tux would be neat!
Remember, you'll feel very out of place wearing jeans and running shoes while surrounded by beautiful costumes and ball attire. After all, would Rikku really wear her bikini to a ball?
Note: While blue jeans are not acceptable, black dress jeans in good condition would be acceptable if paired with a dress shirt.
Please remember to exercise discretion and good taste if you plan to attend in costume, and keep in mind that this is a formal event.
There will be a coat check available at the hotel for $2 per item. Large bags and coats can be checked so they don't weigh you down at the ball.
Ever wanted the perfect picture to remember Anime North by? Look no further! We will be having the photobooth make a return this year. Commemorate your fantastic night for only $5. The photobooth will be completely immersive with props and writable speech bubbles for you and your friends to customise. This year’s photobooth has some important changes in order to improve the process.
- Photos will be taken and paid for during the ball.
- Photos will be available for pick up on Saturday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the TCC by Con-aid where attendees picked up their ball tickets.
Once again this year the Moonlight Ball will have our Video Contest! Bring your camera to the Ball.
Consider that you want to attend the Ball and you want as many people to come with you as possible. However, you need to convince them first. How do you go about doing that? You've decided that the best way is to show them a video of just how great it is!
Remember, you're trying to convince your friends to go with you!
