Anime North is an anime convention located in Toronto, Canada that celebrates anime, manga, music, games and all other forms of Japanese Culture!
Anime North will be the weekend of May 23 - 25, 2014 at the Toronto Congress Centre and International Plaza Hotel.

Weekend/Group admissions to Anime North 2014 are now SOLD OUT. There are still plenty Single-Day admissions, but the closer we come to the convention, these will start selling strongly as well.

Return of the Studio Ghibli Retrospective: Dec. 15 - Jan. 3rd

Returning to the TIFF Bell Lightbox (350 King St. W.) for the holidays is Spirited Away: The Films of Studio Ghibli. A smash when this retrospective was shown at the Lightbox last year, it now returns with the addition of Grave of the Fireflies, From Up on Poppy Hill, and The Secret World of Arrietty, beside the works of Hayao Mikazaki and other Studio Ghibli films.

Followers of the Anime-hardcore sound, and keepers of the Kawaii Bass, Djs Tenshin (pictured to the right) and Velociraver (pictured to the left) have been rocking dancefloors solidly since their debut at Anime North two years ago. Their high-speed, high-energy fusion of cute anime and melodic rave music always gets feet moving and hearts lifted! These two titans will be mixing it up, back to back, for 5 whole hours of whacky madness!

To make the dance even more enjoyable, please post a list of your song requests before October 10, 2013 in the Facebook thread regarding the DJ announcment to ensure that DJ Tenshin has your songs on hand during the dance.

Matsuri - Toronto's Japanese Summer Festival - Sunday, July 28

In the heart of the downtown core, Kurakake Company is proud to bring you MATSURI, the 1st Toronto Japanese Summer Festival, a time of celebration of Japanese culture, music, art and cuisine. 

With traditional and modern live musical and dance performances, and a market featuring live arts & craft and the best of Toronto Japanese food illuminated in the lights of the city, this is the Toronto's first Japanese Matsuri!

 Performances include Japanese drumming by Raging Asian 
Women Taiko Group, Yosakoi dance by Sakura Mai, and modernized Japanese folk by Toronto's renowned Ten Ten. Special square features include a live spray-paint mural by visual artist Spencer Harrington, "Random", and two traditional Japanese Geisha models, among other activities. The festival is open to the public and free for everyone. Let's bring out our Japanese spirit! Cosplay is encouraged!
